Common questions

Answersbefore you ask.

What CueStats covers, who it is for and how match night actually runs.

What is CueStats?

CueStats is a competition platform for eight-ball (8-ball) pool in Australia. Associations run their season in one place — competitions, teams, venues, fixtures and finals — captains score match night live from a phone, and players and supporters follow draws, ladders, results, scoresheets and statistics on a public site that updates as frames are recorded.

Who uses CueStats?

Associations, leagues, state bodies and event organisers use the admin console; team captains use live scoring on match night; and players, families and supporters use the public results site. Every group works from the same record, so nobody is reading a different version of the night.

How does live scoring work on match night?

A captain opens their match on live.cuestats.app and unlocks it with a captain PIN — no app install and no account required. Tapping the frame winner records the frame, recalculates the match score and updates the live board and the public results site straight away.

Can CueStats run tournaments and take entries online?

Yes. Organisers publish an event, take player entries online and schedule the draw with an optimiser that fits matches to the available tables. Entry fees can be collected by card, paid directly into the organisation’s own Stripe account, and entrants get automatic reminder emails and a live entry status page.

Does CueStats publish player rankings and career statistics?

Yes. Player profiles carry season and career records, and national rankings are published across three systems — the CueStats Performance rating, AEBF Australian rankings and Australian Majors event points — in Open, Women, Masters, Masters O60, Women O50 and Under 23 categories.

Can CueStats matches be used in a live stream?

Yes. Scores, player names and a shot timer are available as browser-source overlays for OBS and similar streaming software, driven by the same live match the captain is scoring, so a broadcast never needs a second scorer.

What timer does CueStats use?

CueTools Timer is the official timer of CueStats. It is a free download for iPhone and iPad, Android, Fire TV and any web browser — an optional CueTools Pro tier adds live streaming — and it handles shot clocks, match clocks, extensions, races and shootouts for English eight-ball, American 8/9/10-ball, snooker and Heyball. CueStats Live already mirrors a running CueTools session — enter the timer’s remote link code and the clock appears on the live display and on broadcast overlays — with deeper integration into the CueStats platform on the way.

Do players need an account to check results?

No. Draws, ladders, results, scoresheets, venues, team pages and player statistics are public and need no login. An optional account lets a player claim their own record so their history follows them between clubs and seasons.
